VIBRACIÓN at Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany
ATELIER BRÜCKNER designs art exhibition
The Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn is hosting an exhibition entitled VIBRACIÓN, designed by ATELIER BRÜCKNER. It is shown from 17th September 2010 to 30th January 2011. This presentation by the Stuttgart scenographers integrates over 200 works of art from Latin America into a consistent narrative space. The exhibition architecture is based on the language of form and the main themes of the abstract art works on show.
The exhibition designers have conceived a spatial, urban structure, developed from fundamental, reduced, geometrical elements. The line becomes an area and, finally, a space. A high-contrast alternation between the colours black and white serves as a link to the urban moments of architecture in the 20th century. Perspective axes open up into squares, are limited by closed cubes or become narrower to form alley-like passageways. Spatial constellations are thus created that lend rhythm to the constructed scenario and engage in a dialogue with the architecture.
With the help of items taken from the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection, the exhibition offers an overview of 20th century abstract art in Latin America, including works by Joaquín Torres-García, Lucio Fontana and Jesús Rafael Soto, whose painting Vibración from the year 1961 gave the exhibition its name. In addition, three European emigrants who played a significant role in the abstract art of Latin America will be presented: the photographer Grete Stern, the sculptress Gertrude Goldschmidt, called Gego, and the painter Mira Schendel.
