European Elections since 1979 2014Brussels, Parlamentarium
Europe goes to the polls! The exhibition design of "European Elections Since 1979" forms a clearly structured room narrative. A strong blue-yellow contrast refers to the colours of the European Union. Election posters and broadcasts serve as corresponding means of communication to represent the past seven European elections. Additionally, statistics-tables show the most important dates and facts, as well as the actual election results in a concrete way. At the front wall of the exhibition room there is a large-screen projection, which reveals the current election campaign from 2014. It conveys the coherence of the EU campaign in all EU countries. The centre of the room is an interactive table. Here, the visitor is invited to set priorities in terms of EU policy in a playful manner by positioning building bricks on the corresponding topic area. The table moves according to the weighting of votes and thus exemplifies the significance of each and every vote during the upcoming elections.
