A striking L-shaped new building extends from the existing warehouse building as the so-called “Hagenbucher”, and accommodates the additional rooms necessary for the planned science centre. Access to the new and old parts of the building with its permanent exhibition and special exhibition areas is gained via a central staircase in the void between the two parts of the building. The vertical space is used for a ceiling-high staged setting that enables an initial emotional consideration of natural phenomena and the scientific research associated with them.
