The Norwegian Printing Museum is located in a new building, in terms of space and content linked to the Norwegian Canning Museum. The Printing Museum offers an overview of the development of the written and printed word as well as the development of image reproduction – up until the digital age. The chronological visitor parcours can be followed from two sides. The main topics include the influence of the printing press on the dissemination of information and the lithography and tin printing techniques. Both of them flourished in Stavanger, as the internationally exporting fish canning industry resulted in numerous print orders. On the upper floor, visitors can experience the historic printing presses in action and try out individual printing techniques for themselves.
