The harbour of the Norwegian city of Stavanger, in historic warehouse buildings, is home to the new permanent exhibition "Homeport Stavanger", designed by ATELIER BRÜCKNER.

The "What is a Harbour?" section focuses on the "Home Port", the port as a trading centre and global transhipment point, as well as the maritime industry with its shipping companies and the port as an employer. Exhibit tables invite visitors to try their hand and gain a haptic impression of sailor's knots and textile patterns. The room is subdivided by the historical supporting beams, so that the themes of port and sea face each other. On the water side, there is, among other things, a miniature fleet of detailed ship models to admire.

"Who is a Harbour?" shows the history of the harbour through the eyes of various protagonists. Five themed islands each highlight a relevant period of time through personal stories and exhibits.
