Voestalpine Stahlwelt 2026Linz
Client: Voestalpine AG Size: 1,182 m², of which 213 m² are in the grid
The new voestalpine Stahlwelt in Linz no longer shows only how steel is made – it tells the story of what steel can achieve today. At the heart of the redesign developed by ATELIER BRÜCKNER is the 14-metre-high Grid: a freely suspended, walkable steel structure that is architecture, exhibit and stage all at once. Emerging from the ideas of connectivity, openness and precision, the Grid forms an open system of lines, nodes, connections and light, making visible what voestalpine stands for today: networked thinking, industrial expertise and innovative development.
Although the Grid appears light and delicate, it contains 4.4 kilometres – around 140 tonnes – of high-strength steel hollow sections. As the exhibition’s largest exhibit, it connects content, media and objects and reveals how steel has become part of complex technological networks. Along a multi-level route through the building and the Grid, visitors experience real exhibits, augmented reality, interactive media and immersive lighting installations as part of a holistic exhibition experience. The new voestalpine Stahlwelt combines brand communication, exhibition design and architecture, making visible how closely steel is connected to the questions of the future: sustainable production, technological innovation and the demands of a connected world.
