Generously designed streetscapes, intimate interiors and concise interludes take visitors of the exhibition "In Search of Style. 1850 – 1900" back to the era of historicism. About 400 exhibits mirror an era of change, an era of emergence, an era of new technological possibilities. The exhibition nestles to the sculptural architecture of the Swiss National Museum's extension, which was opened in 2016. It plays with the expressive exposed concrete architecture as well as the different room heights. By means of its content and design, the exhibition visually links the new architecture with the old building of the museum, a neo-gothic construction from 1892–1898 by the architect Gustav Gull.

Duration of the exhibition: 23 March until 15 July 2018.
