For the first time, the life and work of German silhouette artist and movie pioneer Lotte Reiniger (1899-1981) is acknowledged in exhibition form. A thematic pathway leads the visitor through the different categories of her artistic work: the silhouette, shadow theatre and animated movies set to music. The colour design is geared to the subject of the exhibition by constantly using the contrasts of black and white. Audio stations, media installations and movie projections present different possibilities of interaction. Students of the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Basel were responsible for the overall project, from the conception to the spatial extension.
