Odense is the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen. Here he found the inspiration for his creative work. Four different exhibition areas formed part of the final competition proposal: The Fairytale Realm, The Biographical Realm, The Children's Realm and an Enchanted Garden. The competition concept generates an immersive journey through the topographic landscapes of the Fairytales and through the body and mind of Hans Christian Andersen. Visitors travel through real-scale environments full of natural wonders and dramatic thrills, such as ice walls, rain curtains, cloudscapes or a grim underground world. Thus the compelling stories can be experienced up close.
